Hydraulic turbine workshop No. 83

11.01.2019

Hydraulic turbine workshop is one of the main at the plant. Together with steam turbine workshop, they create the backbone of all production. And it is not surprising, because here is the production of equipment for hydraulic power plants. The head of the hydro turbine workshop Yuriy Andryushchenko tells about his workshop and the team working in it.

- The history of our workshop began in 1952. And in 1954 the first hydro turbine was released. Since 1956, we began to manufacture hydro turbines for the development of our special design bureau (SDB hydro turbines). Our workshop manufactures equipment for HPPs and tests this equipment for the customer. The list of what our shop can make is quite large - for a long time existence were made turbines of radial-axial type, adjustable-blade type, horizontal capsule turbines, pre-turbine valves.

All this is possible thanks to the unique machine tools. So, the machine “Gigant” which allows to process details up to 20 meters in diameter is installed in our workshop. It was on it that the mechanical processing of parts for the Dniester PSPP was carried out - the most important project of recent years. In addition, we have a special stand for conducting hydraulic tests to assure the customer of the quality of our products.

Many shop workers are awarded with high state awards; they have the title of Honored Machine Builder. So for the creation and development of the world's largest spherical valves at the Nurek HPP, the head of the hydro turbine workshop Vovchenko O.S. and the foreman of assembly fitters Tkachenko P.A. were awarded the State Prize of the Tajik SSR.

A cohesive, highly qualified team of the hydro turbine workshop was created at an experienced and wise management of the heads of the workshop Vovchenko O. S., Makaruk V.N, Litvinenko V.N, Rubin B.M., Zvyagintsev A.V. The work of which resulted in the manufacture and supply of hydro turbine equipment to European countries, South America, Asia and the whole post-Soviet countries.

If we talk about the most significant and outstanding projects that have loaded our workshop over the past 5 years, then it is impossible not to say about the work of “Turboatom” at the order for the Dniester PSPP. The construction project of this station - the largest in Europe - gave work to all the workshops at the plant. It is Europe's first reversible hydraulic machine, which is capable of maximally producing 390 MW in the turbine mode, and in the pumping one - consume 420 MW.

Among other significant works orders for Kaniv HPP can be noted. Not so long ago the customer was given guide vanes for a hydro turbine type ПЛ-15-ГК-600. And in October 2017, the runner and guide vanes for a hydro turbine (station number 1) were shipped to the station. Under the contract, we have to produce 7 such turbines in complete configuration for the reconstruction of two power units at the station. This work is important because it is done with EBRD money, and “Turboatom” won tender from its other competitors.

Also, at the beginning of the year, we manufactured equipment for the Seredniodniprovska HPP, this work is also carried out with EBRD money. Under this contract, we have to reconstruct two adjustable-blade hydro turbines.

A work on manufacture of three radial-axial hydro turbines type PO75-B-300 for the Kyiv PSP is carried out. As I know, under the contract our plant develops documentation, conducts model tests, and after the manufacture of turbines – pre-commissioning and commissioning.

For the last two years, our workshop manufactured equipment for the Kakhovka HPP (station number 1). In particular, a runner with parts and a shaft was delivered to the station. Under the contract, “Turboatom” modernizes the adjustable-blade turbine for a hydraulic unit. The new vanes of the guide vanes, the shaft were manufactured, the runner, upper and lower rings of the device, etc. were renovated. In 2016, we completed the production of equipment for station number 2.

I would also like to mention our participation in the creation of a radial-axial runner of hydro turbine for Indian HPP Larji; its diameter was 3450 mm.

The continuation of work on the manufacture of equipment for the above-mentioned stations is in the plans of our workshop for the next year.

Today, in the hydro turbine workshop, I think the best team - the alliance of experience, maturity and youth, is working with high returns motivated by high wages and social protection.

Today in the hydro turbine workshop, in my opinion, the best team is working – a fusion of experience, maturity and youth; they work with full dedication motivated by high wages and social protection.

We look confidently in the future – many young people are working and studying at the workshop, the equipment is modernized, new technologies, progressive tools and modern methods and techniques of work are introduced.

I take this opportunity to heartily congratulate Our Plant on its Jubilee. I wish that the gained valuable experience and high results of work every year were more and better. I sincerely wish all the employees of professional success and stable financial growth, good health, mutual understanding and constant desire for perfection!

Hats off to Turboatom!
