One of the most important workshops at “Turboatom” is workshop of machining and welding production No. 72, in which more than 240 workers are employed. It produces condensers for nuclear power plants of Ukraine and world, welds large and dimensional parts for thermal and hydroelectric power plants. In addition, this is also the largest workshop of the plant in size. On the eve of anniversary, workshop manager, Gennadiy Cherkasheninov, told about life of workshop and tasks set in front of it.
Gennadiy Cherkasheninov heads workshop for 15 years. He began working at “Turboatom”, when workshop 72 was located in a small building for two bays, which now looks like extension to huge building. It was in this building, which factory called the “building of consumer goods”, began to assemble condensers and “million kilowatt turbines” more than 30 years ago.
- Let me begin with the fact that in recent years the plant has mastered production of condensers for new type - block-modular with stainless titanium cooling tubes. Since 2010, “Turboatom” has produced 18 such condensers, and 2 more are currently in production. They were made as modernization.
Previous condensers were simpler in terms of manufacturing, since most of work was carried out during installation at power plants. In our difficult time, getting right contract is becoming increasingly difficult. In particular, time for manufacture of condensers is very rigid. Therefore, the plant's management risks and procures necessary materials in advance, which helps us to make necessary equipment in compliance with contract terms.
As far as plans for 2019 are concerned, in January first condenser casing for South-Ukrainian NPP will be prepared for delivery. In fact, it is made by design of Leningrad plant, which our designers have redone. In total 4 such cases will be made, each of which consists of 8 modules.
Of course, in every manufactured equipment, work of whole plant is invested. In particular, great merit of successful development of “Turboatom”, in my opinion, belongs to Victor Subotin, who is constantly looking for new customers, new contracts. And if he says that the order will be ours, so it goes.
If we talk about workshop 72, then I can say that our team is efficient. As soon as plant began to master new technology of condensers manufacturing, every worker of workshop had to study all nuances and features of new process, including technology of welding on titanium and welding pipes, since actually such condensers were not manufactured by “Turboatom” before. Workshop workers put all their efforts and knowledge to apply new technology in production.
I managed to return to factory genuine specialists, who worked on condensers assembling and have huge experience. In particular, Yuriy Mishchenko, his team is engaged in installing of pipes and assembling condenser modules. I also want to note team of Gregory Kirik, on whose shoulders are almost all welding, which takes place in workshop. Combined team under management of Igor Khytryakov is engaged in orbital welding, namely welding of pipes in condenser modules and welding of diaphragms.
Team of cutters under management of Oleksandr Vasilenko always works concertedly and on result. They begin to work at the end of the process, when it is necessary to provide to manufactured part, so to speak, good appearance. I have to say that all teams are well-coordinated, working in full force, if necessary, in 1.5 shifts and on weekends. After all, they have understanding of production objectives and production plan.
Incidentally, to these teams belong equipment manufactured by workshop in recent years. In particular, in 2018 condensers for Zaporizhzhya and South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plants were manufactured and shipped, including two “round” condensers KP-1650.
Also, three runners were manufactured: for Dniester HPSPP the fourth runner, the first of three for Kyiv HPSPP and the fifth for HPP Larji (India).
Among the old-timers who started to work in workshop since its foundung, I want to mention vertical lathe turner Victor Plugatar, the drillmen Volodymyr Sklyarov, Anatoly Gerbin. They not only gave to plant large part of their lives, but also share their knowledge with young workers who come to workshop.
Also, I cannot help but mention my deputy Yevgen Pasichnyk, on whose shoulders are in fact management of workshop. His work is a great help to me.
As for equipment, during the last few years, in workshop took place a major upgrade: Skoda machine was transferred to numerical control program (CNC), modernized with the participation of German specialists HC-6640. And, importantly, all modernization is carried out at company's own funds, without attracting loans. Also it was purchased equipment for orbital welding that improved quality of products manufactured by workshop 72.
I would like to wish to “Turboatom” prosperity and move forward only, keep brand of the company and increase production.
