Victor Subotin spoke at general meeting of NAS of Ukraine

25 April 2019, annual session of General Meeting of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held in Kyiv. Report on results of activity of NAS of Ukraine in 2018 and tasks for next period was made by President of NAS of Ukraine, academician Boris Paton.

General Director of JSC "Turboatom" Victor Subotin took part in discussion of the report. In his speech, he noted particularly important role of academic science in creating high-tech products of power engineering, which is being developed and produced by "Turboatom". Many-year fruitful cooperation of enterprise with academic institutions allows creating turbine equipment for NPP, TPP, HPP and HPSPP, which is not inferior to the best world standards, but for the most part surpasses them in technical specifications.

Scientific and technical cooperation of Institute of Electric Welding named after Ye.O. Paton of NAS of Ukraine and "Turboatom" allowed creating unique welded rotors of high-capacity turbines for thermal and nuclear power plants, developing advanced technology for welding of rotors weighing more than 200 tons, which received worldwide recognition and is considered as national treasure. According to this technology, more than 500 rotors of turbines have been welded, among which are low-speed turbines with capacity of 1 million kW belonging to significant achievements of Ukrainian enterprise "Turboatom" and academic science.

Victor Subotin noted importance of work performed by enterprise under program of import substitution, among which prominent example is manufacture of blades of 1200 mm length of last stage from titanium alloy of low pressure rotor of turbine with capacity of 1000 MW.

Close long-term cooperation connects "Turboatom" m with Institute of Mechanical Engineering Problems named after A.N. Podgorny NAS of Ukraine, which has intensified in recent years to create highly efficient and reliable turbines, its modernization and improvement of flow parts and other turbine assemblies. Work in this direction and ability to manufacture welded rotors make it possible to create new generation turbines with capacity of 1200-1500 MW.

At the end of speech, President of NAS of Ukraine Boris Paton highly appreciated achievements of the enterprise and thanked Victor Subotin for defining work that "Turboatom" performs at the current stage, as well as for significant contribution to strengthening plant’s relations with academic institutions in direction of turbine production.
