“Turboatom” manufactured the equipment for Dnieper HPP

17.05.2019

The work on the production of equipment for Dnieper HPP (Ukraine) is continued at JSC “Turboatom”

In the presence of the customer representatives, the company's specialists performed functional tests of the Kaplan type runner of ПЛ40-В-700 hydro-turbine for Dnieper HPP (station No. 16).

A functional test of the runner was also carried out for the blade turnout identity and pressure level. According to the test results, a certificate was signed stating that all parameters comply with the standards. Then the equipment is waiting for balancing, after which it will be disassembled, packaged and sent to the station.

In the second quarter of 2015, with the participation of specialists of “Turboatom”, a hydro-turbine (station No. 18) was started up at Dniepro-2 HPP. According to the contract concluded in 2011, “Turboatom” upgraded three turbines Nos. 11, 17, 18 of the propeller type ПР-В-680 with replacement for the Kaplan type turbines ПЛ40-В-700 at Dniepro-2 HPP. The project was financed and controlled by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

After modernization, the turbine unit capacity increased from 115 MW to 122 MW, and the diameter of the runners increased from 6.8 to 7 m. The upgraded hydro turbine No. 11 was put into commercial operation in March 2014, the turbine No. 18 in July 2015, and turbine No. 17 - in September 2016.

On November 22, 2017, “Turboatom” and PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo” signed a contract for the reconstruction of two hydraulic units (station No. 16 and 14) for Dniepro-2 HPP (Kaplan type turbines and generators). The implementation of the contract is scheduled until the end of the third quarter of 2021. This will allow increasing the capacity of the “Ukrhydroenergo” hydroelectric power plants, increasing the volume of electric power generation, extending the service life of hydroelectric power plant equipment, strengthening the reliability of the country's power system as a whole.
