On the eve of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, JSC “Turboatom” awarded the sign “For Merits” to the job foremaster of the mechanical processing of the hydro turbine workshop No. 83, Olexander Yatsenko.
The award was given to “For conscientious work and personal courage shown in carrying out the tasks of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the combat zone,” it was presented by the Chairman of the “Turboatom” trade union committee Mykola Turchyn.
According to the management of the workshop and Oleksandr’s colleagues, he is a technically competent and hard worker who is able to solve technical problems quickly and efficiently.
In 2014, during mobilization, Oleksandr Yatsenko volunteered for military service, where he took part in military clashes directly in the areas of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) in the east of Ukraine. He was demobilized in October 2015, but a year later he was accepted into contract military service until the end of the special period. During this time, he was involved and participated in the ATO and operations of the joint forces (OJF) in the territory of Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
Now Olexander Yatsenko is in a military hospital, where he is recovering after getting of hard shrapnel wounds in May 2019. For patriotism and selflessness, Olexander was awarded the breastplates “For service to the state”, “For loyalty to the oath”, “For honor and valor’.
He is very reluctant to talk about the situation on the front line; however he thanks the plant that supported him during the entire period of service. “At the very beginning of the war, “Turboatom” helped each of its employees who were called up for service,” recalls Olexander Yatsenko. “We received uniforms, body armors and other outfits, which the Ukrainian army did not have then. Now the Ukrainian military is much better armed, but support from the management of “Turboatom” is still felt. For that, I am very grateful to them”.
Olexander also added that he was looking forward to returning to work. “I already missed work and my colleagues,” he concluded.
