A sketch campaign in the framework of the project “Plant. Expedition” was held at “Turboatom”

The first sketch campaign, which is organized in the framework of the project “Plant. Expedition” took place at “Turboatom”. 21 artists took part in it. Sketch sessions were held in the forge of the plant, as well as workshops number 72, 53, 83.

As the organizer of the project, Yulia Kolesnykova, said, the idea for the project arose in preparation for the Urban Sketcher All-Ukrainian Symposium, which will be held in September in Kharkiv. During July and August, Parade-fest and Urban Sketchers will open the industrial spaces of the city for artists as part of the project “Plant. Expedition”. The industry theme was chosen because Kharkiv is a large industrial city, where there are many operating plants. “In the summer months we inspect the places that are interesting to us, because no one knows what happens behind high fences and closed gates. When I first came to “Turboatom”, it was a great surprise for me that the main work, in fact, is mechanized. I expected to see a lot of people and manual labor. There was a special interest in “Turboatom”, so it is first on our list,” noted Yulia Kolesnykova.

According to her, sketch sessions are also planned to be held at the State Enterprise Plant “Electrotyazhmash”, the Kharkiv Bearing Plant, as well as some municipal enterprises of the city.

The idea to go to industrial facilities came to the founder of Urban Sketchers Kharkiv, the sketcher, Yaroslav Yakovlev. “First, we will finally see the closed plant territories that we have long dreamed of visiting. Secondly, we’ll show that the plants are not something that is preserved in time. They can and should change, especially in Kharkiv, where there are many industrial spaces of various industrial branches "– noted Yaroslav.
