“Turboatom” has shipped equipment for South Ukrainian NPP

At the beginning of September 2019, JSC “Turboatom” shipped 2 sets of the upgraded pipe system of the КП-1650 / 1M condenser of the OK-12A steam turbine for power unit No. 3 of the South-Ukrainian NPP K-1000-60 / 3000 turbine unit.

The scope of delivery includes new condenser assemblies - heat-exchange tubes, chambers with half covers and other details. The modernized pipe system to replace the old one will be mounted in the existing condenser case at the NPP site. Installation of heat-exchange tubes in nuclear power plant will be carried out by “Turboatom” personnel.

It is worth reminding that the modernization and replacement of equipment at power unit No. 3 of the South-Ukrainian NPP is carried out as part of the import substitution program. “Turboatom” proposed the design of condensers with a modernized pipe system made of corrosion-resistant materials, which is a continuation of the enterprise’s work in the direction of replacing the main condensers of steam turbines with a capacity of 1000 MW at NPP’s units.

Each OK-12A steam turbine includes a КП -1650 / 1M type condenser with a modernized pipe system made of corrosion-resistant materials, which ensures: the exclusion of copper-containing alloys from the equipment of the 2nd circuit of the turbine unit; achievement of tightness of the pipe system of condensers; obtaining in-depth design pressure of steam (vacuum) in condensers at design temperatures of cooling water; reduction of installation time; installation of condensers on an existing foundation without changing its characteristics and layout decisions. All this allows for more reliable, long-term and safe operation of the equipment of the turbine plant of NPP and improvement of the performance of NPP.
