The VIII Sports and Athletic Contest took place at the sports complex “Turbinist”
On the eve of Ukraine’s Machine Builders Day, on Saturday, September 21, at the sports complex “Turbinist” the eighth annual Sports and Athletic Contest dedicated to the professional holiday was held.
The yet another Sports and Athletic Contest, already the eighth in a row, brought together a large number of turbine builders who came to the sports festival with their entire families. 39 units took part in the competition, 32 of which received awards.
An incendiary dance in the style of well-known support groups - cheerleading opened the Sports and Athletic Contest for the first time: the employees of the enterprise from different workshops and departments danced.
At the beginning of the event, the General Director of “Turboatom” Viktor Subotin addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He congratulated all colleagues on the holiday: “It's nice to see that our team is healthy in spirit and body, because today, at the sports day, more than half of the plant’s employees are present. We try to maintain such moods; therefore we do everything necessary so that turbine builders have the opportunity to engage sports. In this anniversary year for our company, we overhauled the plant stadium so that you can engage in volleyball, basketball, football and other sports. I wish you to show the best results at the competitions today and gain strength for new achievements – to new labor victories! "
The Chairman of the trade union committee Mykola Turchyn noted in his address that such events unite the team: “I am glad to welcome you to the eighth Sports and Athletic Contest, which brought together the best athletes of our enterprise. It's great that we have the opportunity to meet outside the plant walls. This is an indicator of a healthy team. I wish the strongest be victorious!”
The invited guests also expressed their welcome words – the Head of the administration of the Nemyshlyansky district of the Kharkiv city council Tetiana Topchiy and the Head of the administration of the Moskovsky region of the Kharkiv city council Oleg Tovkun. They congratulated the turbine builders on their professional holiday and wished them success in the competition.
The Sports and Athletic Contest’s program of this year included sports that have already become traditional: athletics, table tennis, checkers, chess, arm wrestling, weight-lifting and football. The current innovation is a new sport – beach volleyball was also included in the competition program.
Traditionally, in parallel with the adult Sports and Athletic Contest, a holiday was also organized for the children of turbine builders. For young visitors to the sporting event, they created a large play area in the building of the sports complex “Turbinist”. Here, children could draw, create crafts from plasticine, and then post their work on special stands. After the creative work of the children, a delicious surprise was awaited for them – a "cotton candy", which was prepared directly near the children's creativity zone.
Another innovation of the VIII Sports and Athletic Contest was the master classes that were held during the main competitions. Everyone could try their hand and learn new things thanks to master classes in streetball, badminton, archery, athletics and speed cubing (assembling the Rubik's Cube on the speed). The most popular was a master class, where they were trained to shoot from a bow. The athletes whom we managed to interview expressed their enthusiasm for organizing the holiday: “It was very nice to see the renovated stadium. And the beach volleyball court looks very modern – it’s a pleasure to play at such one.”
At the end of the Sports and Athletic Contest, the best athletes received their awards. The largest number of medals was collected by representatives of workshop72, the assets of which there are 10 medals. Among them: 5 – the highest standard. In second place, with 7 medals, including 5 gold ones, there is the team of the special design bureau “Turboatom”. The representatives of the central plant laboratory, in whose assets there are 6 medals, one of which is “gold”, closed the top three.
Prizes were also raffled in the lottery, which was another innovation in the current sports festival of “Turboatom”. The winners received footballs autographed by the players of the “Metalist 1925” team, certificates for purchases in the city’s sports stores.
