“Turboatom” took 3rd place in the “Battle of the corporations” playing off
plant completed its participation in the competitions of the “Autumn Cup” of the sports tournament among enterprises of Kharkiv - “Battle of the corporations”.
In early December, “Turboatom” took part in the last stage of the “Battle of the Corporations” tournament – the “Mad Heads” intellectual competition, in which the plant team took 2nd place. The “Autumn Cup” playing off was completed by these competitions. In total, within the framework of the autumn-winter part of the “Battle of the Corporations”, the “Turboatom” team also competed in the following disciplines: sports poker (11th place), futsal (5th place), table tennis (2nd place) and streetball (6th place).
The coaching staff noted that the performance of the team was at a decent level. In particular, in streetball, the plant workers demonstrated a good game, but lacked more teamwork. The players themselves noted a very high level of training of other teams, therefore they consider 6th place a worthy result. The “Turboatom” team also improved their performance in table tennis compared to last year, when the plant team stopped their struggle at the 1/4 final stage. This year's silver medals allowed “Turboatom” to stay in the prize zone.
Nevertheless, thanks to the wonderful and successful performance of plant intellectuals, according to the results of the “Autumn Cup”, the “Turboatom” team took 3rd place in the overall standings, losing to the silver medalist only in additional indicators.
The base of the plant team during the last stage of the “Battle” was made up of the players of the winning team of the plant tournament on intellectual games “What? Where? When?”, which ended in November. The organizer of this tournament, Oleksandr Gudymenko, noted a significant increase in the level of training of participants compared to last year. “The 2nd place this year is the result of constant training that we conduct as part of the “WWW” plant games. Therefore, I am very pleased that “Turboatom” has shown significant progress compared to last year’s performances when we took the 12th place,” – he said.
Deputy General Director Dmytro Nesterenko, who participated in streetball competitions, noted that the struggle was not easy, but “Turboatom” showed a good game. “More experienced players who are bound up in streetball played against us. It was felt that streetball is not just a hobby for them. Considering this, I’m sure that our team has shown a decent result. Next time we will play better,” – he said.
Another active participant in the Autumn Cup, Kristine Danielyan, considers the result achieved a success of “Turboatom”. “I took part in 3 competitions out of 5, and I can say that our team always showed a desire to win. Somewhere there was a lack of equipment, teamwork, but we were always aimed at winning,” – Kristine shared her impressions. She also added that the hardest thing was when playing streetball. “It was clear that other teams were better prepared, but I believe that we will be able to improve our results next year,” she said.
The tournament has now gone on a winter break to return to the first stage of the “Spring Cup” playing off next year. The “Turboatom” team plans to spend this time in training to improve their performance during the spring stages of the “Battle of the Corporations” tournament.
It is worth reminding that in September 2019, the fifth season of the “Battle of the Corporations” sports tournament, called the “Autumn Cup”, began. The second part of the tournament – “Spring Cup” – will consist of such sports disciplines: bowling, badminton, darts, laser tag and beach volleyball.
The “Battle of Corporations” is the best sports tournament in Kharkiv, which consists of 10 sports. Amateur athletes who represent exclusively their company take part in it. This may be an enterprise of the Kharkiv region, regional offices of national or international companies.
The tournament is held with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing amateur sports, creating a platform for informal business communication and strengthening the corporate culture among employees of organizations.
