This issue was discussed by the Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration (KhRSA) Oleksiy Kucher during a meeting with the Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ukraine Bakhodir Ibrahimov. This was reported by the press service of KhRSA.
The head of the region held negotiations with representatives of Uzbekistan during a working trip to Kyiv on February 11.
“I was the initiator of this meeting,” said Oleksiy Kucher. “We know that Uzbekistan is now developing in the field of nuclear energy. They plan to build the first nuclear power plant in the country. Kharkiv enterprise “Turboatom” is one of the largest in the world in the field of turbine production. Therefore we raised the issue of our potential participation in this project.”
The chairman of KhRSA said that the total cost of the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan reaches 1 billion USD, and the duration of its implementation is from 7 to 10 years. This indicates a serious and long-term cooperation perspective.
The Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Bakhodir Ibragimov called the cooperation with Ukraine on the construction of NPP relevant.
“Ukraine really has unique experience and developments. During today's meeting, I learned a lot about “Turboatom”. We hope that the plant, which is planned to be built in Uzbekistan, will be very reliable – thanks to you, Ukraine. We are very glad for this cooperation” – said Bakhodir Ibrahimov.
During the meeting, the explanations regarding the production capabilities of JSC “Turboatom” were provided to the Uzbek side by the Director General of the enterprise Viktor Subotin.
“Turboatom” is a recognized leader in the production and supply of 1000 MWe reactor turbines. 20 of our 1000 MWe reactor blocks are working around the world without any emergency stop, – Viktor Subotin emphasized. – We have proven our quality in real work. Therefore, our task is to convince a potential customer, Uzbek power engineers that our equipment will fit in their tasks in the best way. And we have every reason for this.”
