Viktor Subotin took part in solemn commissioning of hydraulic unit No 6 of Kyiv PSPP, which was rehabilitated by "Turboatom"

14 May 2020, at Kyiv PSPP held a solemn commissioning activities of hydraulic unit No 6, rehabilitation of which was performed by Kharkiv "Turboatom" jointly with SE "Plant Elektrotyazhmash" and PJSC "Dnipro-Spetshydroenergomontazh". The works were performed in accordance with the Contract for Rehabilitation of Hydraulic Units of Kyiv PSPP Nos 2, 4, 6 at the expense of the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

General Director of "Turboatom" Viktor Subotin took part in event. He noted that this is the second hydraulic unit of Kyiv PSPP, rehabilitation of which was successfully performed by Kharkiv enterprises. Currently, "Turboatom" is already working on rehabilitation of hydraulic unit No 4. He reminded that the consortium "Turboatom" and "Electrotyazhmash" took part in tender for rehabilitation of Kyiv PSPP and in competition won over such manufacturers as ANDRITZ HYDRO GmbH (Germany) and Voith Hydro GmbH & Co. KG, (Austria).

According to received contract, plants perform rehabilitation of three units, namely design, manufacture, testing, supply, installation and commissioning of three Francis type turbines and three generators. "Turboatom" manufactures all major assemblies at its own production facilities.

The hydraulic unit was decommissioned in April 2019. Main purpose of rehabilitation of units was to increase capacity and extend operation life for 40 years. Thanks to installed new turbine and generator, capacity increase of hydraulic unit No 6 is now 5.3 MW. So, as a result of rehabilitation, unit's capacity increased to 46.8 MW. New runner has higher efficiency, which will ensure more productive use of water resources.

Hydraulic unit No 6 will be put into commercial operation on 3 August 2020. From May to August there will be a stage of experimental operation, during which conformity of equipment and system with technical specification will be determined, specialists will check functions of the system and confirm ability of the system to work in industrial conditions.

It will be recalled that commissioning activities of hydraulic unit No 2 took place in July last year. At the end of April this year, "Turboatom" received for modernization turbine shaft of hydraulic unit No 4 of Kyiv PSPP. The task of enterprise's production is to complete work on this order and prepare products for supply in July 2020.
