On May 19, General Director of JSC “Turboatom” Viktor Subotin and Director of A. Pidgorny Institute of Mechanical Engineering Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine AndriiRusanov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership in the development of a new flow part of a low pressure cylinder of a 220 MW NPP steam turbine.
According to AndriiRusanov, the memorandum is a continuation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement, which was signed two years ago by Viktor Subotin and President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Borys Paton.
“Today we signed a Memorandum on the joint development of a new lowpressure cylinder for Paks NPP (Hungary), where we will apply our most promising and latest achievements. I think that in terms of efficiency this development will exceed all existing in the world; we will apply new approaches that nobody has ever used before us. I’m sure that success will be great," – said AndriiRusanov.
According to the General Designer of “Turboatom”YevgenLevchenko, the signed Memorandum shows the close fruitful cooperation between the scientific organization and the manufacturing enterprise. Such an interaction of science and production today is extremely necessary, since the products of “Turboatom” must be competitive and meet the highest technical standards.
“We took the lead and one of the main customers – the Paks power plant, where 8 of our 220 MW turbines are operated, – was offered a new development: we are talking about modernization of existing turbines. And I have no doubt that together with our partner – the scientific institution – we will do the job.As for the time frame, given the interest of the customer, we can offer him new products next year. This work will be the basis for the implementation of new ideas in our other projects. The same ideas of these flowing parts can be used for turbines of thermal power plants with a capacity of 200, 300 and 500 MW,” said YevgenLevchenko.
According to Viktor Shvetsov, the Chief Designer of “Turboatom” steam turbines, interaction with a scientific institute in this project is necessary.
“As a result of several stages of modernization of the turbine, we increased its rated power from 220 MW to 260 MW. To offer the customer something new, innovative and to make a technical breakthrough, we need the help of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering Problems. I’m sure that we can do it together.” - emphasized Victor Shvetsov.
