A hydroelectric unit manufactured by “Turboatom” was put into operation at Kyiv PSPP

12.11.2020

At the beginning of November 2020, at Kyiv PSPP, the commissioning of hydroelectric unit No. 6 of Kyiv PSPP (Ukraine) took place after reconstruction.

As a result of the reconstruction, the hydro turbine equipment was updated, in particular the runner, the turbine bearing and the distributor. Also, the stator and rotor of the generator have been upgraded. This is the second hydroelectric unit modernized by the Kharkiv enterprise for Kyiv PSPP. In October 2019, hydroelectric unit No. 2 was put into commercial operation at the plant.

The reconstruction was carried out by specialists of JSC “Turboatom” together with SE “Plant “Electrotyazhmash”. The work was carried out in accordance with the contract for the reconstruction of hydroelectric units of Kyiv PSPP Nos. 2, 4, 6 financed by the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The main goal of the reconstruction of the units was to increase capacity, extend the operation by 40 years and raise environmental standards. Thanks to the new turbine and generator installed, the power gain of hydro unit No. 6 is now 5.8 MW. Therefore, as a result of the reconstruction, the unit's capacity increased to 46.8 MW. The new runner has a higher efficiency, which will ensure more productive use of water resources.

The contract for the reconstruction of three plant units was concluded between “Turboatom” and “Ukrhydroenergo” on December 30, 2016. “Turboatom” acted as the general contractor for the turnkey project. For the station “Turboatom” develops documentation, conducts model tests and delivers to the plant three radial-axial hydraulic turbines of the PO75-B-300 type, carries out dismantling, installation, startup and commissioning.
