In early December 2020, representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited JSC “Turboatom”.
The task of the IAEA inspection with the participation of the Agency's nuclear safeguards inspectors was to verify the accounting of nuclear materials and, most importantly, to verify that the nuclear material is indeed on the equipment, as declared by the state. In addition, IAEA inspectors reviewed all relevant documents and reports. They have no claims to the company.
The Agency conducts such inspections every 5-6 years. In addition, “Turboatom” submits reports to the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRCU) - the central executive body that ensures the formation and implementation of the state policy in the field of nuclear energy safety.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the world's leading international government forum for scientific and technological cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The IAEA was created as an autonomous organization on July 29, 1957
The SNRCU's mission is the state regulation of nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine in accordance with national legislation and international obligations, based on the principles: independence, impartiality, competence, responsibility, objectivity and openness, ensuring compliance with the requirements of nuclear security and safeguards against the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
