A work on equipment for Kremenchug HPP is continued in the workshops of the enterprise

The pairing of the runner with the shaft for Kremenchug HPP, station No. 4 was carried out in the workshop of machining and welding production No. 72.

The runner diameter is 8 m, the height is 4.9 m, the mass is 167.8 tons, the shaft length is 5.8 m, the diameter is 2.9 m, and the weight is 35.95 tons.

The pairing consists in the fact that the shaft is installed on top of the runner and on the machine with high processing accuracy and finishing, the holes in the shaft and the runner are processed simultaneously (from one installation) for subsequent installation of tight-fitting bushings in these holes.

This procedure is carried out in order to ensure reliable fastening of the runner to the shaft, eliminating the possibility of displacement of the runner axis relative to the shaft, to transmit torque from the runner through the turbine shaft to the generator shaft.

Shipment of runner is scheduled for March 2021.

After the modernization of the hydroelectric unit, the capacity will increase from 58 MW to 62 MW, the efficiency will increase by 4%, and the service life of the hydraulic turbine will be 30-40 years.

This operation, performed in a plant, and not at HPP, significantly reduces the cycle of work when installing equipment at the station.

At Kremenchug HPP “Turboatom” is modernizing the existing power equipment. At the moment, the fourth turbine is being reconstructed. A total of 12 units are installed at the station. A customer of the project of modernization is PJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”.
