On August 17, 2021, with the participation of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal, the fourth hydroelectric unit was put into operation at Dniester PSPP.
The launch of the fourth hydroelectric unit will give the United Energy System of Ukraine 324 MW of balancing energy, according to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
During the ceremonial launch, the Prime Minister noted that the construction of the Dniester PSPP is one of the most ambitious energy projects and the implementation of this project allowed supporting the Ukrainian industry, since 80% of the equipment was produced in Ukraine.
“Turboatom” has manufactured and supplied a complete set of equipment for a reversible radial-axial hydraulic machine ОРО170-В-730 of Dniester PSPP. The company will also perform installation supervision, commissioning and testing.
The maximum power of the unit in turbine mode is 390 MW, in pumping mode - 420 MW. With the launch of the fourth hydroelectric unit, the plant's capacity will reach 1296 MW in generator mode and 1684 MW in pumping mode.
It is worth noting that for this hydraulic turbine “Turboatom” for the first time performed the casting of the runner blade using a unique technology - the simultaneous casting of a flat dimensional part from two steel furnaces.
The net weight of the hydro turbine will be about 2 thousand tons.
The largest equipment: turbine shaft weighing 110 tons; the runner with a diameter of 7.3 m and a weight of 120 tons; turbine stator (assembled) with a diameter of about 15 m and a weight of 300 tons; distributer (assembled) weighing 880 tons.
The contract was signed on April 26, 2017.
In 2017, three employees of “Turboatom” were awarded the State Prize of Ukraine for the work “Creation of circulating hydroelectric units of Dniester PSPP to improve the efficiency of the unified energy system of Ukraine.”
