"Turboatom" was visited by students

21 March 2019, JSC "Turboatom" was visited by students of National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (NTU "KhPI") and National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine (NUCPU). They visited workshops, where they got acquainted with production capabilities of the enterprise.

Plant was visited by students of department of "Integrated Mechanical Engineering Technologies" of Educational and Scientific Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport of NTU "KhPI" headed by Department Chairman Professor Olexandr Shelkov.

During the visit, students got acquainted with peculiarities of enterprise and history of its development. Future experts visited steam turbine, hydro turbine workshops, as well as workshop for casting and forgings.

During visit, representatives of plant discussed organization of labor protection at "Turboatom", process of providing workers with working clothes and personal protective equipment. Visitors were also interested in geography of deliveries of enterprise's products and turbine manufacturing cycle, but most of all they were impressed by scale of production and equipment produced.

At the end of meeting, Olexandr Shelkov invited representatives of training and development department to visit NTU "KhPI" and meet with students as part of implementation of concept of dual education, signed with plant in late December 2018.

In their turn, future engineers for civil protection and ecology of NUCPU visited "Turboatom" in framework of studying relevant disciplines. Cadets got acquainted with protective structures of the enterprise, of which there are three at the plant: total capacity of 4 thousand places. Guys were accompanied by Leading Engineer of Labor Protection and Safety Antonina Mekhovych. She explained that all factory shelters for emergencies are equipped with protected diesel power station, pumps for pumping storm water, have water supply system, drainage and are provided with personal protective equipment. If necessary, employees of plant can spend two days in shelters.

Particular interest of students attracted principle of operation of ventilation chamber in transport and power tunnel, which serves as protective structure and is used for transportation between industrial areas. Tunnel passes under subway at a depth of 20 m and in case of emergency it can receive 3200 persons.

Such excursions to JSC "Turboatom" are not uncommon. Every year, within framework of industrial practice, students of higher educational institutions, technical schools, vocational schools and schoolchildren visit the plant.
